Retro Kitty: Review of Kattencafe Kopjes

It's easy to get your kitty fix in Amsterdam.

Located near the main tourist district, Kattencafe Kopjes is just over a mile from the Anne Frank house, an easy half hour walk or 15 minute tram ride on the #13 line.  

When I arrived, I was greeted by the friendly host behind a large counter covered with glass platters of delicious looking pastries and baked goods.  

Even though I didn't have a reservation, they were able to seat me in the main room, which was nearly full at the time despite being a weekday.  I later discovered it was school fall break, which, as a frequent traveler, I should have researched in advance.  Thanks to the team for fitting me in!

The vibe is retro cafe, a mixture of 50's style formica tables and chairs softened with natural accents including wicker, wood and shearling.  The cafe is definitely designed for cats with lots of perching shelves on the wall, although most of them were sleeping in chairs such that many patrons were standing.  Everything smelled clean and fresh, which is always appreciated.

My latte and blueberry cheesecake were both delicious and the total for my visit was €9.70, including a €2.50 cover, which is very reasonable for normally expensive Amsterdam.

A pleasant addition to a cat lovers itinerary, be sure and seek out Kattencafe Kopjes when in Amsterdam.
