Heal Thyself: Review of Cat Cafe Nyanny
Cat Cafe Nyanny promotes itself as a place for healing, just give yourself enough time to tap into that chill vibe.
I showed up just after 8 pm and was feeling a bit frazzled after visiting 5 other cat cafes that day. I was mentally and physically tired, as well as hungry, but I vowed to 'dig deep' in order to give the cats my full attention.
The shop attendant was quiet, but a very kind woman. Seeing that there was less than one hour left, she let me in for 30 minutes/Y500 instead of the mandatory Y1000 for 60 minutes. The timing is key because the cafe encourages people to stay for longer in order to soak up the, er, healing environment.
There were approximately ten cats across three different rooms- one down and two up. They were reasonably friendly although some a bit gun shy after one too many visitors. The space is spare, but cozy with comfy chairs to sit in and read one of the many books available. There is a drink bar with bottled water, juices, teas and such available for purchase, but no food.
Located in the popular Akihabara neighborhood, Cat Cafe Nyanny's clean, peaceful environment is worth checking out if you are nearby and need of a break.
