Good Looks, No Heart: Review of Cafe Mocha Ikebukuro
This was my fourth visit to a Mocha outpost and when I walked in, it had the same Mocha look with gorgeous and classy interiors.
Little did I know it would be the high point.
Things started to slide with my interaction with the staff, which was on par with a cashier at the supermarket. The entire experience felt perfunctory and business like, not in a good way, but rather stiff and impersonal.
To be fair, the cats are gorgeous, but as the British would say 'they can't be bothered.' None of the kitties were particularly social or engaging with most skulking along the walls to escape anyone seeking to pet them. Maybe they need a vacation?
Coffee and other drinks are available from a vending machine (unlimited) for Y350.
Overall, Cafe Mocha Ikebukuro delivers a beautiful facility to admire the equally beautiful cats, but there is a lot lacking-- lack of engagement from cats and humans, lack of good coffee and lack of soul. If you crave more heart, luckily there are plenty of choices in Tokyo.
